
Hanks his next film role was that of astronaut and commander Jim Lovell in the 1995 docudrama Apollo 13. This reunited him with Ron Howard. The performances in the film and Kevin Bacon's performance in general were highly praised by critics. The film earned nine Academy Award nominations and won two. Hanks was the voice actor for Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated movie Toy Story (1995). In the following year, he made his directing debut in the musical comedy That Thing You Do! The story follows the fall and rising of a 1960s rock group. Hanks is also in the role of a music producer. The Time magazine's Richard Schickel called it "charming" and many reviewers agree that Hanks performances earned him a spot in the top romantic comedy stars of his time.
